Yes, without exception. The safety and well-being of our players is our absolute top priority. Before anyone is permitted to step onto the pitch to lead a session or assist with a team, they must meet the strict standards required of an England Football Accredited club: Mandatory Enhanced DBS Checks: Every single coach, assistant, and regular volunteer undergoes a mandatory, enhanced Criminal Records Check (DBS) which is updated regularly. FA Coaching Qualifications: Our team managers hold recognized FA coaching qualifications, ensuring sessions are age-appropriate, structured, and focused on player development. Safeguarding & First Aid: All active coaching staff hold up-to-date, mandatory certifications in FA Safeguarding Children and Emergency First Aid. Continuous Monitoring: Our dedicated Club Welfare Officer (CWO) continuously audits and manages these credentials across the entire club. We do not cut corners when it comes to child safety. In strict alignment with The Football Association (FA) Safeguarding Children policy and standard grassroots safety regulations, Sturry Kings FC enforces the following measures at every session and match: FA-Qualified & Checked Staff: Every team has at least one FA-qualified coach who holds an active, enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, alongside mandatory FA Safeguarding Children certification. Emergency First Aid: All coaching teams include a designated, FA-certified emergency first aider. A fully stocked, up-to-date first aid kit is pitchside for every training session and fixture. Unsupervised Player Rules (FA Ratios): We strictly adhere to the FA’s mandatory adult-to-child supervision ratios during all activities to ensure no child is left unmonitored. Pre-Activity Pitch Inspections: Before any player steps onto the grass, our coaches conduct a thorough pitch inspection to check for hazards (such as debris, glass, or waterlogging) and ensure that goalposts are securely anchored and safe to use. Dedicated Club Welfare Officer (CWO): Sturry Kings FC has a designated, fully qualified Club Welfare Officer who oversees all safety compliance and is always available to players, parents, or coaches who have any welfare or safeguarding concerns.
